June 2011 News

Hi folks!

Just a quick update on things at the moment. I’ve been back on the road quite as many of you will know , and I have to say, I’ve loved it! I started off in Southern California in January, playing in churches in San Juan Capistrano, St Clemente, Redlands, Claremont and Lake Arrowhead. I seemed to be very well received everywhere, and have already booked to be back there next January. It’s not a bad place to be at that time of year—

I came home on Feb 2nd, and went straight into a series of UK concert dates, organised by an agency called Resound Media, in conjunction with Compassion. The furthest North was Drumnadrochit and the furthest South was Guernsey—I loved every minute of it, and over 18 concerts we manage to gain 50 new sponsors for needy children in the poorest parts of the world. Thank you to everyone reading this who had a part to play in the tour.

UK tour 2012

Resound Media are keen to put together another tour for me, starting in February and running into April. It’s my plan to record a new CD in the autumn this year, so the tour will serve well to introduce the new songs alongside the old favourites! Please consider hosting a concert for me! It’s very easy to organize, and you get good organizational and promotional help from Resound. Drop a line if you can to kate@resoundmedia.co.uk. Even if you feel you don’t have the confidence to take the burden on yourself for organizing an event, perhaps Kate could link you with someone else in your area—where there’s a will, there’s a way!

Schools Update

Since the tour finished I’ve been back regularly in the schools– relationships there are growing really well, and the lunchtime music sessions in the high schools are particularly well received. I love the sense of involvement with the school, and get asked to do extra things, like helping out with the sound at the end of term school show at Perth High. I love it!

Family

Carol is doing great—excited about escaping from us for a few days this Thursday to fly with a friend to Milan for four days holiday! Taylor just about to finish school, and Harrison has finished all his Standard Grade exams. Their band Whigs and Rakes is creating quite a buzz around the Perth and Dundee area—the plan is to defer University for a couple of years and have a go at making the band work. They have a first album coming out in November. Check them out on Google/facebook/myspace etc if you’re interested!

June 2011 Diary

June is going to be a busy month! Engagements start at 6am on the morning of the 1st, Where I’m singing at the National Prayer breakfast again, then that evening it’s the Faith and Light monthly meeting—just a fantastic time with folks with learning difficulties. If you come across a Faith and Light group in your area, go along and support it—you’ll be blessed! Another highlight of the month is being asked to be guest singer in the big Praise Gathering concerts in the Glasgow Concert Hall and Edinburgh Usher Hall. A real privilege and I can’t wait!

Thanks for reading! Bye! Ian
